2011 NFC/AFC Championship Game Predictions

After another round of predictions failing miserably, I’ve now gone 1-for-3 in the wildcard and divisional rounds of the 2011 NFL playoffs, it is time to get my AFC and NFC Championship predictions.

Because of my awful predictions thus far, look at my picks in one of two ways; A. whatever I select, just pick the opposite or B. I can’t be THIS wrong for three weeks in a row.

AFC Championship Game:  New York Jets VS Pittsburgh Steelers

The Jets have shocked the world in two straight road victories against Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.  Both teams are coming off high emotional victories against their bitter rivals.  The home field advantage and playoff experience lies with Pittsburgh. Ugh.  Pittsburgh is a 3.5 point favorite which I think may shrink to two points as we get closer to the game.  I don’t know who to pick.  We saw the Jets have this same exact luck last year in the playoffs and fail to make it to the Super Bowl.  But, I’m going with the Jets.  Jesse “The Body” Ventura always told me, “sometimes its better to be lucky than good.”

Predictions: Jets 17 – Pittsburgh 14

NFC Championship Game:  Green Bay Packers VS Chicago Bears

Unlike the AFC Championship game, this is an easier game to pick.  Let’s go Pack!  The only thing I’ve predicted right throughout these playoffs is that whoever won the Packers/Eagles playoff game would represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.  The Packers are a 3.5 point road favorite which is pretty rare for an NFC championship game.  This season will be the crowning of Aaron Rodgers as an elite quarterback in the league.  Bears QB Jay Cutler traditional struggles under pressure and that is what the Packers are all about on defense.  Watch for Clay Matthews to come away with 2+ sacks.

Prediction: Packers 31 – Bears 20

As always feel free to comment with your predictions below!  Enjoy the games!
