WARNING: The video of Louisville Kevin Ware’s injury is gruesome and caused players to cry, vomit. No joke.

Lousiville’s Kevin Ware snapped his leg in half in the most gruesome injury in the history of March Madness.

During the first half of the Cardinals game against Duke in the Elite 8, Ware attempted to block a 3-pointer by Duke’s Tyler Thornton.  Thornton made the basketball and when Ware came flying down to the ground his lower leg snapped in half.  The snap was so severe that the bone became visible as it was protruding through the skin.

The reaction from the Cardinals’ bench sums up how everyone at home was feeling – shock and awe.  Rick Pitino was visibly crying as paramedics took Ware from the court to a nearby ambulance.

The injury is reminiscent of Joe Theismann‘s legendary leg break at the hands of Lawrence Taylor or professional wrestling fans will maybe Sid Vicious snapping his leg when he jumped from the top rope back in WCW.
