Robinson Cano Gets Cheered For Failing In The 2012 Home Run Derby

I now have a whole new level of respect for Kansas City Royals fans.

If you caught any of the action from the 2012 Home Run Derby, defending champion and New York Yankee Robinson Cano was booed unmercifully by the Kansas City crowd.  Except when he created an out, then the crowd cheered like crazy.  The Royals fans’ anger stemmed from Cano going back on his word of adding hometown slugger Billy Butler to the Home Run Derby team.

Fellow Yankees Curtis Granderson and CC Sabathia even visited Cano’s father who was throwing pitches to try and break the tension.  Didn’t work.  Cano was shutout and eliminated in the first round.
