2 Roys Make a Right

Welcome to RideThePine

Let’s Talk Sports

The Philadelphia Phillies might have made the best move at the free-agent deadline as they acquired ace right-handed pitcher Roy Oswalt from the Houston Astros.  This move has to put the Phillies at the top of the conversation for World Series contenders.  However, it still baffles my mind that the Phils traded away Cliff Lee at the beginning of the season only to now acquire an older and more expensive pitcher in Oswalt.

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan failed Defensive Tackle Albert Haynesworth in his condition test and held him out of practice on Thursday because he was unable to run a third sprint in a satisfactory time.  I’m not fan of Haynesworth.  I think he is a me-first, overpaid player who tried to stomp someones head off just a few years ago.  But these sprints, come on.  You pay this guy to be large and not to move more than 7 steps in any given play.  He is suppose to be fat.

The Denver Broncos signed first round pick Tim Tebow to a five-year contract.  You would think this guy was Tom Brady with the publicity he gets.  Hey Tim, I got two words for you, Brady Quinn.

Speaking of two words, Washington Nationals pitching sensation Stephen Strasburg was sent to the DL with an inflamed shoulder.  Stephen, can you say Kerry Wood.

Terrell Owens has officially made it to the Cincinnati Bengals camp.  Which has now made the Bengals Wide Receiver corp, more annoying then The View.

And that is my view from the pine.
